Question by beachtan365: What is the difference between all the developers (10, 20, 40etc.) at Sally’s beauty supply?
I know you are supposed to mix a bottle of developer (I think that’s what it’s called) with hair dye, but how do you know what number to use. My hair color now is light brown with caramel highlights but my roots are black.

If I wanted to dye my hair lighter then which one would I use?

People at Sally never seem to know.

you’d use a 10 or 20 the bigger the number the stronger!
