Question by Jilly: I’m supposed to start beauty college in Feb. Just found out I’m pregnant?
I’m supposed to start beauty college in February, but I just found out I’m pregnant. I would be about 6 weeks right now. I was just wondering if I can still attend beauty college while I’m pregnant? Or will it harm the baby? (the chemicals, smell, etc.)
thanks!

not unless u eat the chemicals and stuff. you might be a little sensitive to the smell i couldnt stand the smell of hairspray or straightened hair when i was first pregnant…but you should be fine unless u eat the hair dye or whatever ur using.
you and the baby will be fine. Just at breaks make sure you get a bit of fresh air. lots of pregnant people in knew did beauty school or jsut their salon job while pregnant. not a big dela so don’t worry. Just wear gloves and stuff so your skins not in constant contact with thechemicals. you don’t wnat to constantly absorb them directly in your skin..a little bit is fine, but like when dying somones hair use gloves..lol.
theres no proven risk from the dye but precautions while pregnant are good.
i’m 5 weeks i supposed to start cosmological and march so that same thing i’m going thought the same thing right so i’m just attending a i community college and to after the baby is a couple month i’m going to beauty school ..
My friend had the same problem. When she asked her dr about it he said its best she wait till the baby arrives to go beauty school. Basically for the same reason you are not supposed to dye your hair while you are pregnant. The chemicals used can be toxic to both you and the baby during pregnancy. Also being on your feet for a long period of time is another problem.
I would make an appointment with your OBGYN soon and discuss this with them. I have always been told that the fumes from the chemicals aren’t good for the fetus, but a pregnant lady who cut my hair the other day said her Dr told her it was fine. ‘Congrats!
